September 9, 2014 the tech powerhouse Apple held an informative keynote to release their newest products. At this annual keynote they announced the Apple Watch and a mobile pay service called Apple Pay. One of the most anticipated products they released was the iPhone 6 which was available for purchase September 19th. The phone is available in two models, the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus. Both devices will be available in Silver, Gold, or Space Gray and will offer 16 GB, 64 GB, or 128 GB memory sizes. The IPhone 6 has a display that is 4.7 inches diagonally while the Plus version boasts a 5.5 inch display. Both have the new A8 chip and an 8 mega pixel camera.
Recently several videos have gone viral showing these new devices being bent by their owners. This caused great uproar about the quality of what is supposed to be one of the best smartphones available. Apple then released a statement saying that they have only had 9 official customer complaints and described their rigorous product testing. To put this issue to rest, consumer reports tested the durability of the two new IPhones along with several other smart phones currently on the market. They found that while the iPhone 6 is quite fragile, the HTC One is actually just as weak, if not more. Both devices bent with the same amount of force, however the HTC One cracked 10 pounds before the iPhone. They determined that these phones should stand up to typical use and pointed out that nothing is indestructible.
